All Jedi must follow the Jedi Code:
There is no emotion, there is peace
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge
There is no passion, there is serenity
There is no death, there is only the Force
Jedi must defend, revere and respect all life regardless of anything such as personal feelings – Jedi have no emotion in such situations.
Jedi are to follow all laws and customs of the planets or civilizations they visit, unless it inflicts upon the Jedi code or it goes against the judgement of the Force.
Jedi will refer to those of higher rank within the Order as “Master” unless given permission by a specific individual to call them by name. Jedi will also show respect to high ranking officials of other nations, organisations (even the enemy).
Jedi will follow the orders of the Jedi Council, and orders given by any other Jedi of higher rank, unless the orders go against the Code or are of a malicious intent.
The Jedi Council has the final say in any Jedi matter.
Force users wishing to join the Jedi Order after leaving other groups (Sith, Jenseraai, Dark Jedi etc.) must seek permission of the Council. At least two Council members must be present upon the meeting.
All Jedi are issued with a standard communicator, which links to the Jedi communications centre. A Jedi must always have this communicator on him.
Learner and padawan rules:
While a learner or a padawan apprentice, a Jedi may not have unnecessary material possessions. Ships and other methods of transport are considered unnecessary, as the Council, your Master, or another Knight will provide you with transport. Weapons will be taken by the Council upon entering the Order and will be returned once you are knighted, or decide to leave. It may be asked by the Council to be, if weapons are deemed unnecessary or hazardous, to dispose of them.
A learner must always inform a higher ranking Knight if they are leaving the planet surface, unless given orders or permission by the Council to keep their departure secret.
A padawan’s Master must always be aware of where their apprentice is – preferably by their side – and the Master will be held accountable for the apprentices actions by the Council.
While an apprentice, a Jedi must choose a lightsabre form to specialise in – although Jedi can learn more forms, until knighthood a Jedi may not specialise in more than two forms. No Jedi can ever specialise in every form.
No learner or apprentice may be married during his or her time as a learner or apprentice. Relationships with other learners or apprentices are forbidden until after knighthood. Other relationships are subject to the judgement of the Council.
No padawan or learner may have their own lightsabre – weapons inherited are taken and kept by the Council until the knighthood of the student. Learners and padawans may carry training sabres- non-lethal lightsabres.
Learners and padawans may not lie to any Jedi of a higher rank – unless lying is necessary for the benefit of the Order or under instruction from their Master or the Council.
Students may not be affiliated with any other organization other than the Jedi Order.
No student is above another student, and so may not issue him orders.
Knighthood:
Knighthood can be granted in several ways:
The Jedi Council deciding that the student has reached the level of Knight.
A Jedi Master or Knight decides that a student is ready for the trials. The trials are conducted by the Masters and Council members. If Council members are not available, a Jedi Master must conduct the trials. If no Masters can be found – a Jedi Knight may conduct the trials, although this is frowned upon and must only be done under extreme conditions.
The trials may be a mission, or a set of tasks set for the student by the Jedi monitoring the tasks.
Before the trials can be attempted, the following must have been completed by both learners and padawans:
A training session must be undergone, before any other training, teaching the new student the basics of the Force and Jedi Order.
10 sessions of lightsabre training – five of these must be done under the supervision of a Master or Knight, guiding the Jedi in a specific form. (Long posts, post credibility to be judged by Masters.)
8 meditation sessions – four of which must be done under the supervision of a Master or Knight.
3 sessions of training with a Master or a Knight in use of the Force.
Special Force abilities or certain aspects of lightsabre styles must be taught by a Master or Knight – learners may not teach each other these – it is forbidden. (Special abilities are rare and not everyone can go around doing them. If your unsure of whether what you want to learn is a special ability – ask a Master.)
Jedi must know these basics skills: being able to tap into and use the Force, moving objects with the Force, affecting the mind of another. The ability to heal ones self is encouraged – find a Master to teach you how.
A student must have been in training for two real life months before being considered for Knighthood.
Students under the age of 16 are not allowed to test for knighthood.
Learners may only become padawans after the age of twelve and a Master may only take on a padawan older than 12.
Learners must have completed at least 4 of the lessons listed below. Padawans are expected to learn what is taught in the lessons on missions or by instruction from their Master.
Knight rules:
A Jedi Knight is allowed one padawan apprentice. If the Council feels fit to question the bond between Master and padawan, they will address it.
Jedi Knights must follow the will of the Council, complete any missions or orders given to them.
Jedi Knights do not need to inform the Council of their actions, but must remain in contact in case of emergency.
Personal items are not a necessity, but are allowed at Knight status, although frowned upon.
Any items taken away by the Council before joining the Order may be reclaimed with permission of the Council.
Jedi Knights must assist any students that ask for assistance, unless the situation or previous orders do not allow it.
Becoming a Jedi Master:
Masters are chosen by the Council. A Knight may not become a Master in any other way –unless the moderators deem it necessary (times of great need).
A Master not obeying every Jedi law and rule will be addressed by the Council.
A Jedi Master may have up to three apprentices –although more than one is discouraged. This usually happens when Knights need to be trained quickly or apprentices leave for long periods of time in real life.
Council members are decided upon by the other Masters. If Masters are not available for any reason, the moderators may deem it fit to appoint new ones.
Expulsion:
If a Master, Knight, Learner or Padawan does not follow the above and below mentioned rules they will be expelled from the Jedi Order – never to rejoin it.
Do not:
Kill or harm any life form in cold blood, out of anger or for revenge.
Cause serious trouble that can lead to fighting – physical or emotional.
Disobey the Jedi code.
Disobey the Jedi Masters.
Disobey the Council members.
Associate with dark Force users in any other aspect than self defence or attempting to return them to the light.
Use the darkside of the Force. No experimenting, no flirting. No use of it whatsoever.
Put anyone or anything’s life in danger.
Acts unbefitting of a Jedi.
Other:
The difference between a Jedi learner and a Jedi padawan apprentice is that the Jedi learner has to or chooses to train himself in the ways of the Force, with out a Master but with the occasional guidance of the Council, and other Jedi. A padawan apprentice is chosen by a Jedi Master or Knight and is trained in the ways of the Force by their Master. This makes it possible for a role-player to reach the level of Knight if there are no other Jedi active to train or assist them. Learners are still subject to the trials, which must be completed to become a Knight.
