Ship Design Guidelines
1. Fighter Capacity: increase the cost of the vessel by 10 FCs for every squadron it carries. If it carries a single squadron it must be at least 100m; 2 squadrons, 200m; 3 squadrons, 300m; 4 squadrons, 400m; 5 or 6 squadrons, 500m. Ships smaller than 500m cannot carry more than 6 squadrons.
2. Troop Capacity: This is based primarily on the size of your ship. Find the size of the ship on the scale below to see how many troops would reasonably be carried aboard a ship of this size. You may increase the troop capacity beyond the size capacity listed below by increasing the vessel's cost by 5 FCs for every step increase in capacity.

3. Weaponry: consult the table below to determine how much the ship's weaponry adds to the ship's FC cost.

Note that dual turbolasers count as two turbolasers each, quad turbolasers count as four, and turbolaser batteries count as five.
Ships may have a maximum number of weapon emplacements equal to their size in meters divided by ten. For example, a 200 meter ship can have 20 weapon emplacements. Note that dual turbolasers, quad turbolasers, and turbolaser batteries each count as only a single emplacement.
4. Special Devices: Each gravity well generator aboard adds 25 FCs to the ship's cost. Furthermore, a ship must be at least equal to 100 meters in length for every gravity well generator aboard. Note that a minimum of four gravity well projectors are required for optimal effect.
A cloaking device adds 100 FCs to the vessel's cost.
5. Speed: The default speed is 40 MGLT. For every 10 MGLT your ship is above or below the standard, add or subtract (respectively) 2 FCs to the ship's cost. The maximum speed for a ship is: 100 - (ship length/10m) MGLT. Thus, the maximum speed for a 500m ship is 50 MGLT, whereas a 100m ship might reach 90 MGLT.
6. Shields: Default shielding is 2500 SBD. If shielding is adjusted higher or lower, consult the chart below to determine appropriate adjustment in FCs. 5000 SBD is the maximum shielding for ships in this size range.
