Mal turned to the Gungan and smiled as he climbed into the ship. For a moment he wondered if it would be a good idea to bring it along, it could provide him with endless hours of fun.
However, he realised, that dragging some piece of meat along would eventually just end up in a big mess and he did not need that. Now that he thought about it, he could not simply leave this thing here, suffering. No no no, that would not do.
Jumping down from the ladder, Mal crossed to the Gungan one more time and knelt down beside it, taking his head in his lap and gave it what he assumed was a comforting smile.
His hand drew the scalpel one more time from his belt so that the Gungan could not see it. Mal spoke to the thing in a very soothing voice,
"Rest now my friend, in a world where there is no more suffering..."
A quick slash of the blade, and Mal had severed the Gungan's jugular. It would be a short painless death. Holding the thing until the last life left it, Mal never once broke eye contact with it. There there, he thought...

For a moment, the young bounty hunter almost wondered if Mal was going to heed the Gungan's helpless plees and bring him along. It surprised her that even though they had brought so much pain and anguish to the creature that it still begged them for mercy and asked to be brought along...
When Mal made short work on the gungan's life, his pleas and anguish died out to make a soft, wet choking sound. The sound of drowning in his own bloody fluids...
"Why're you doing this to me? What did I do to you?"
"You let me die."
"I didn't let you die! You're still here!"
"I died that day..." the female voice sounded shaky and uneven, as if the speaker was on the verge of an angry rage or uncontrollable sobs. "You did nothing to stop it... not that time or the other times I was in trouble." There was silence and then the female voice sounded more in control, and veiled anger began to rise in the tone. "I was a child."
The voices sounded far off, and pain began to shoot through Sola's temples. She grabbed a couple painkillers from her belt and popped them into her mouth. She had no idea why she was hearing voices in her mind. She wasn't sure what to make of it. She had been having trouble sleeping but nothing like this before.
She breathed deeply and began punching in the coordinates to the Navi computer in attempt to banish all thoughts from her mind. "Mal, I hope you brought your suntan lotion."

Mal stood up and wiped the bloody weapon on the robes of the deceased Gungan. One less thing in this galaxy to bear witness to me, Mal thought.
He felt the rush then, the one he always felt after killing, the rush that made him do it. It was as if all his pleasure synapses in his brain fired off at once, as if a thousand angels from Iego all sang to him, and nothing could compare to it.
But it was short lived as always. Sighing, he moved back to the ship and noticed Sola taking some medication. He thought he saw her rub her temples, but might have been mistaken. She probably was upset by what she had seen, but Mal did not feel the need to broach the topic.
"Alright, lets punch it!"
Mal's voice was happy, happier than Sola had ever heard him before, and his face was lit in a radiant smile as he climbed into the ship.

Sola looked over her shoulder as Mal jumped into the Skipray Blastboat. He was beaming as if he had suddenly discovered the purpose to his life here on a desolate garbage dump. Some days she wished life was that simple. "Alright, you've had your fun... If you want to help me take out this rogue later, I'll split the credits with you."
She fired up the ships engines and closed the cockpit. With a few clicks at the yolk, she lifted off the make shift garbage platform. She input the known coordinates for Tatooine into the navicomp.
One wasteland for another... She thought to herself. Once they had cleared the orbit of Raxus Prime, she pushed forward on the hyperspace lever, engaging the hyperdrive and sling shot them into a race with the stars.
